[resolved] removing "Robots Meta" column from Page/Post admin (4 posts)

    WP SEO adds a column called "Robots Meta" to the columnar Page and Post displays in WP admin. In my case, they all say "Index, Follow" and frankly I have some custom fields I'd rather be able to see at a glance.

    I couldn't find a way to turn this off in the settings. Studying the code, I figured out that I can remove the column filters by adding these lines to my functions.php file:

    // remove annoying "Robots Meta" columns that WP SEO puts in
    remove_filter( 'manage_page_posts_columns',array($wpseo_metabox,'page_title_column_heading'), 10, 1 );
    remove_filter( 'manage_post_posts_columns',array($wpseo_metabox,'page_title_column_heading'), 10, 1 );
    remove_action( 'manage_pages_custom_column',array($wpseo_metabox,'page_title_column_content'), 10, 2 );
    remove_action( 'manage_posts_custom_column',array($wpseo_metabox,'page_title_column_content'), 10, 2 );

    Hope this can help someone else, and if anyone can tell me an easier way to turn off this "feature," I'd like to hear it!

    Thanks,
    Donna

    Thanks for this. The WordPress SEO plugin is immense but those extra columns are just annoying.

    or, you can just hide them in Screen option.

    Good point, turtlepod. If you just have one or two websites, that is definitely the simpler (smarter) way to go!

    I maintain a lot of websites, so it's easier to just put the code in my template. Also it saves me from having to train clients in how to turn off those columns. I add other custom columns for them, like categories, feature image thumbnail, and the like, so having those extra columns makes the display too wide.
