• Hi. I did not want to switch from AIO SEO to WP SEO except when I knew that there is a plugin “SEO Data Transporter” which claimed it can duplicate the data from AIO to WP SEO.
In a nutshell, it proved to be a hell of a plugin, because not only did it not import my SEO data into WP SEO, it even somehow deleted the old data from AIO SEO !

I had to restore older DB’s in 3 blogs to recover the lost data.

Now, is there another way I can import my AIO SEO date into WP SEO? if not, what other solutions are there ? Why did WP SEO not adopt the same system of field names like AIO SEO, to avoid such a struggle?

The process I did was: I got AIO SEO already installed, then installed and activated WP SEO, then I ran that silly Transporter plugin, and it said X number of entries were imported successfully. Yet after I chekced, there was nothing in both of them.

Side question, where is the SEO data for both plugins stored? If I want to only restore the SEO data from an old DB, how can I do it?

BTW, It seems there is also a conflict between the two plugins. When WP SEO was active, and I tried to activate AIO SEO, I got an error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class All_in_One_SEO_Pack in /home1/xxx/public_html/al-rasid/cinema/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/aioseop.class.php on line 3

but strangely, when AIO was active and I activated WP SEO, I got no errors !

I actually had to roll back to AIO SEO. I just won’t re-fill all the SEO data all over again.. shame that it is due to lack of cooperation by the creators

Have you tried the SEO data transporter plugin?

Hi Joost. As I said in the title and in the post, yes I did, and what it did was not only failing to import the data from AIO SEO to WP SEO, but it deleted the data from AIO SEO !

The process I did was: I got AIO SEO already installed, then installed and activated WP SEO, then I ran that silly Transporter plugin, and it said X number of entries were imported successfully. Yet after I chekced, there was nothing in both of them.

You weren’t running a caching plugin at the time that could’ve caused issues?

    (@iceq)

I actually WAS using W3 Total Cache, and I did not disable it while importing.. never thought, not it is mentioned anywhere that I should disable it. Could that be the reason ?
If so, do I have to deactivate the whole plugin or a specific module ?
If this failed, is that procedure I followed (above) correct, or else what other reason may be causing this ?

    Thank you very much !

Try clearing the cache after you do the import and before you check whether it worked.

I undderstand that I shouldnt disable the plugin or any of its modules, only clear the cache after the import. Thanx.. I will do it and report back.. please keep watching πŸ™‚

Hi Joost. Thank you, I followed your tip and succeeded, partly. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ ALL THE FOLLOWING, PLEASE!

I did the import, and went to the edit page of one post, and I luckily found that:

1- ONLY the Meta Description was imported from AIO SEO, and NOT KEYWORDS as well.
Is it because you don’t have keywords field as in AIO SEO? Why one “Focus Keyword” instead? If you think that a one “focus keyword” is better than many “keywords” as in AIO SEO, I will just continue to use WP SEO and ignore the lost keywords I added via AIO SEO.

2- It seems that activating your plugin automatically deactivates AIO SEO, did you set it to do this? because trying to re-activate AIO SEO while your plugin is active, I got this:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class All_in_One_SEO_Pack in /home1/tollabor/public_html/al-rasid/personal/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/aioseop.class.php on line 3

3- I de-activated WP SEO and Activated AIO SEO and found that all AIO SEO’s data was completely cleared (deleted!!).. is it because of your plugin or the importer?

4- Why do the SEO data of WordPress SEO not appear in the posts list as in AIO SEO? It is a great way to see the posts that still need SEO data to be entered.

5- I am considering to use WP SEO on my Arabic blogs. Do WP SEO work fine with Arabic, and especially the “generate SEO title” and “fine related keywords” features ?

    Thank you !
