[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] ISO advice on Meta description templates

  • WordPress version: 3.4.1
    WordPress SEO version: 1.2.7

I did this: installed the plugin and did not change any settings

I expected the plugin to do this: auto-populate titles and descriptions

Instead it did this: auto-populated titles, but left descriptions blank

I am wondering what I should be putting in the Meta description template field.

First, what should I enter to just get (for instance) the excerpt of the post?

    Second, any best practices advice?

Finally, any documentation on the possible template field entries?

Thanks very much! Great plugin as always.

  • hi! meta description is the text you see in google search, so it should ideally contain you keywords, but be relevant and laconic – 160characters. The SEO check option is great, it points out what else can be done.
