I am having a terrible time getting Google Webmaster to verify my site. The instructions are to upload the HTML file to my web site, or to place the Meta Tag into my site's home page (in the <head> section before the first <body> section. Google needs a Technical Writer, as these instructions are not precise. Let's take these instructions one at a time.

    1. GOOGLE Instruction -- Upload the HTML file to my web site? MY QUESTION -- I was able to download the file to my desktop, but where in my web site do I upload it to, and how do I do that?

    2. GOOGLE Instruction -- Place the Meta Tag into my site's home page (in the <head> section before the first <body> section? MY QUESTION -- OK I am using WordPress 2011 Theme Version 1.4, and in my (static) home page I cannot see the <head> or <body> HTML codes. Where do I place the Meta Tag? Also, on the first dashboard page of the Youst SEO App. there are links to Google's, Bing's, and Alexa's Tools, and opposite each of them is an unpopulated field (fill in the blank). What do we put in each of those fields?

Just copy the entire <meta value you find in Google Webmaster Tools into the input field, that should do the trick.

So just to be clear I would put this:
    google-site-verification=wcpi_Vp93WArUq9xwF9wA5K3IWkLC16q4kkCzwEqi14

into the empty field next to Google Webmaster Tools: that correct?

Also I submitted the sitemap_index as you recommend but I also submitted the 4 other sitemaps included within do I need to do this? If I already have will this create a conflict? Should I delete them all and only have the one sitemap-index.xml?

Just the 'wcpi_Vp93WArUq9xwF9wA5K3IWkLC16q4kkCzwEqi14' part, without the quotes

I am suddenly having this problem on http://www.socialsecurityfacts.info. Until today there was no issue, or, I guess I should say, the site verified just fine when I set it up and today I see that Bing Webmaster Tools is telling me that it cannot verify the site.

When I look at the source code for the page the "meta name" tags are not there for GWT or BWT.

I've disabled all the plug ins and tried it again without any luck.

    Any ideas?
