Force rewrite titles setting backwards (3 posts)

    WordPress version: 3.4.1
    WordPress SEO version: 1.2.5

    I recently noticed my title tags were messed up so I tested some settings variations. It seems like the Force rewrite titles setting is backwards in that it's only changing the title when the option is unchecked and it leaves my titles alone when Force rewrite titles is checked. In addition, some of the information in the titles is repeated.

    I started with all WordPress SEO settings at their defaults and WordPress settings as follows:

    WordPress Settings->General->Site Title: Dev
    WordPress Settings->Reading Settings->Front page displays: Your latest posts
    WordPress Settings->General->Tagline: Just my test WordPress site
    SEO->Titles & Metas->Homepage, Title template: %%sitename%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitedesc%%
    SEO->Titles & Metas->Posts, Title template: %%title%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

    Here are the results from a test install running only the WordPress SEO plugin and the Twenty Eleven theme. These are the variations of the title tag for my home page:

    SEO plugin disabled:

    Dev | Just my test WordPress site

    SEO plugin enabled, Force rewrite titles unchecked:

    Dev | Just my test WordPress siteDev | Just my test WordPress site

    SEO plugin enabled, Force rewrite titles box checked:

    Dev - Just my test WordPress site

    As you can see, WordPress SEO is only altering the title tag when the force rewrite titles option is not checked, which seems backwards. In addition, it's duplicating the site name and tagline.

    Here are the same variations for a post:

    SEO plugin disabled:

    Layout Test | Dev

    SEO plugin enabled, Force rewrite titles unchecked:

    Layout Test | DevDev

    SEO plugin enabled, Force rewrite titles box checked:

    Layout Test - Dev

    It's only altering the title tag when the option is unchecked also. It's only doubling the site name, though.

    did you ever get this resolved? I"m having the same problem and can't get the title automatically appended for other pages without ending up with duplicate titles on the home page.

    I'm a little confused regarding this issue. Will someone be able to look at my code and tell me if my site is ok. All i'm doing is checking my title by right clicking on the browser and viewing the html and seeing the title that way as I can't seem to find header.php. here's the link: website

    Thanks in advance.
