• I am running the latest versions of WP, Thesis theme and WP SEO plugin. The problem I am currently facing is duplicate meta descriptions and appearance of meta keywords.

Example: check the source code of this page – http://www.guidingtech.com/13829/speed-up-email-instant-actions-outlook-com/

You’ll see that at the top there’s a meta description and keywords thing, and then as you scroll down, you’ll find another meta description under Yoast SEO.

Now, I have checked Thesis settings and I do not have that stuff enabled there. I have never used its SEO settings. I have always used this plugin, and I don’t know if this problem of duplicates has always been there and escaped my eyes, or whether it has started occurring recently. It caught my eye recently though.

What I also don’t understand here is that how come the meta keywords tag is showing up at the top when I do not have it enabled either in Thesis or WP SEO? I don’t think I have ever used meta keywords on that blog. Am completely baffled to see it in the source code.

I need to get rid of that duplicate meta desc. and keywords thing at the top. Please help.

  • I recently use <!--nextpage--> for page break ups in long post. When I see source, I found canonical is not original page link but new page appended with page number such as …/2/ with same title and meta description. I suspect this will also cause duplicate meta description and title.
    Yoast: Any solution…
