[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Compatibility with Different Directory Path

    This will probably be a duplicate, but I’ve thumbed through the last few pages, and haven’t found it, so I hope it’s not asked too terribly often.

    I have a static site live now, and I installed WordPress to a different directory (example.com/directory). After I develop the wordpress site to completion, it will replace the live site (root files will be deleted, and index.php will be copied over to the root, and I’ll change the code to point to the appropriate place).

    My question is: can WordPress SEO handle this? I assume it will build SEO and links and everything based on the current directory, but when it replaces the site that customers see, I’d like everything to be in reference to the root directory. I want everything to be linked using the example.com architecture, not the example.com/directory architecture.. If it can’t handle this, should I wait until I make the site live, before I install the plugin (I think this mitigates a lot of the plugin’s power)?

    WordPress SEO can handle that. As long as your core settings are fine, WP SEO will adapt to it. We have a slight bug with breadcrumbs related to this right now, but that’s already been fixed in the development version 🙂

    Perfection! Thanks for the speedy reply! So, the plugin automatically adapts as the core settings change, or do the core settings need to reflect what the site will be in it’s final form? This is quite fantastic!

    Hi Joost!

    I use wordpress yoast SEO plugin in my site.
    I need to move my wordpress installation from root to a directory, so i can use a different index page (static) to my site.

    I really need to know if i make this change, all the yoast SEO links to my posts and pages still be working well as they work right now.

    I didn’t make this change yet because i’m really worried about screw up everything on my site. The plugin will automatically adapt to the new paths?
    Can you help me?!
