I believe I’m having the same issue.

I’m on Thesis, but I’ve fixed the normal title rewrite issue. Anything that’s in Yoast’s SEO plugin title works perfectly. But, all other posts are as follows:
    Displaying:
    Post Title –

    Should be:
    Post Title

I’m not sure why it’s adding the hyphen or how to get rid of it. But on a large site it’s annoying to go back and change every single page title to get rid of a hyphen.

I believe it’s only a hyphen because in the WordPress settings I don’t have a title for my website.

Ideas on how to fix anyone?

Click Titles and Metas under SEO

On the General tab > Title settings
    [check] Force rewrite titles

Then this will use the Titles template you have assigned which you can access under the Post Type tab.

Just use %%sitename%% and that will use your page/post title only.
