    We originally put WP 3.0.1 in its own directory of /var/www/wordpress.

    When we tried to enable the plugin, it warned us that it had it had to be in the top level "/", which is /var/www/.

    So, we moved WordPress and updated .htaccess and wp-config with the new code. Now, it says the plug-in won't Activate.

    Your attempt to activate this plugin: “wordpress-mu-domain-mapping /domain_mapping.php” has failed.

    We are using a CNAME Record pointing to dev.reesefelts.org, if that helps. There's a A record, * on the reesefelts.org domain itself and we can't create another * record in CNAME is the A exists already.

    Any ideas on how to troubleshoot that issue?

    Here's what's in config:

    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true);
    define('SUNRISE', 'on');
    define( 'MULTISITE', true );
    define( 'SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', false );
    $base = '/';
    define( 'DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'dev.reesefelts.org' );
    define( 'PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/' );
    define( 'SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 );
    define( 'BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 );

    Here's what's in htaccess

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]
    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule  ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule  ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

    Actually, my developer forgot to move a file. We're good! Sorry!
