 * Hi there,
 * installed fine, moved sunrise, upadated wp-config, plugin loads.
    I’m using version
   0.5.4.2, WP 3.3.1, multisite, installed in the site root. it’s a WP multisite
   setup for subdirectory (not subdomains). I am on IIS.
 * 2 problems I’m having:
 * 1. Via the network dashboard > settings > domains , I tried to enter the domain
   and site ID for my primary site (example.com.au) and site ID = 1 but it doesn’t
   seem to save, seems like the form data is sent off but the form refreshes and
   the fields are empty and I don’t see any info, so it appears not to be saving
   the domain.
 * 2. turning on “User domain mapping page” does not display the domain mapping
   settings in the child blog dashboards.
 * Thanks for your help!

 * I have tried with both Server IP and CNAME under the Network > Settings > Domain
   Mapping

 * I have checked the DB and the tables wp_domain_mapping and wp_domain_mapping_logins
   have been created but are empty.
 * Thanks very much for any help!

 * You cannot map a domain to the main site.

 * ah ok, I thought I had to map the primary domain to the “/” (site id=1)
 * What is the “primary” tick box for when adding a domain? thanks!

 * When you map a domain, that site now has two or more addresses. Whichever domain
   is checked as the primary will be what the other domains redirect to. If you
   only map a single domain to your site, you will likely want that one to be the
   primary address.
 * So if you have example.tld/groovyblog, and you map groovyblog.tld to it, you
   will want to set groovyblog.tld as the primary.

 * ok, thank you for clearing that up for me, I was getting confused as to whether‘
   primary’ was referring to the main site domain or one of the sub sites.

 * I am having a further problem. I want to test if I have set everything up correctly
   before I change the A record for the domain I am mapping, as it is currently
   pointing to a live website which will then point to a sub site of my wordpress
   multisite (new version of the website). But it’s important that the site does
   not become inaccessible. So I thought I could test if I have everything set up
   by changing my host file on my local machine (windows7). I have a dedicated IP
   for my wordpress multisite. So I edited my hosts file in windows to point the
   domain to the multisite IP. But I get a 404. When I ping the domain I get the
   correct new IP as I have defined in my hosts file. should this work or am I missing
   something? Thanks!

 * Did you restart your browser after you edited the hosts file? The browser caches
   the IP address for a site on the first load of that site.
 * If you still get the 404 then clarify whether it’s a WP 404, cPanel 404, etc.

 * Thanks Ron, I think I have narrowed it down to IIS. I think I will have to create
   a new website in iis with the domain I am mapping and point it to the wordpress
   install. I have a slightly unusual setup because I have an asp.net web app and
   wordpress multisite sharing the domain root directory. This is because the main
   domain needs to point to the .net website and all subdirectory sites are run
   by WP. Everything has been fine just I believe IIS is not binding the domain
   to wordpress. But I’m working on it now and will post my findings incase it helps
   someone. Thanks
