Support » Plugin: Download Monitor » [Plugin: WordPress Download Monitor] Uploads break with 500 error

  • Resolved Jeff

I’d been using Download Manager for quite some time. I’m doing a re-fit of my website, and suddenly, uploading any file fails with a 500 error.

    Here’s what I’ve got:

Right now, Download Monitor is the only active plugin, and the only plugin in the plugin folder. No luck.

I had a custom download URL set, but I’ve removed that, and deleted the lines from my .htaccess file. No luck.

On my server, my “uploads” folder and all contained folders are set to 755.

I’m not sure what else I could be missing. Has anyone else ever dealt with this? Thanks!

  • I grabbed the latest release from github (, installed it, and changed locations. Something cleared it up, because it’s working now!

Edit: For completeness’s sake, it looks like the /tmp directory on my server was full—host had cleaned it out, and thus the fix, I think.

hi jeff, how do you mean by changed locations? I am having the same problem you had.

Wow. Honestly, I can’t remember what I meant by that. Maybe it had to do with some other posts I was reading…

I’m pretty sure that the key for me was that the /tmp directory on the server was full. Are you on shared hosting? You might want to ask your host to check that for you.
