[Plugin: WordPress Download Monitor] Adding a Category in the Custom Download URL

  • Hello everyone, was wondering if anyone might be able to help out on this problem I’m having, may help others too perhaps.

What I’m trying to do is to make the URL that Download Monitor outputs quite unique. I want the file url to contain the category name that I have added the relevant download into so say for example:

    site.com/files/CATEGORY NAME/FILE.mp3

By this logic I will be using the Filename at the end of the address. The reason for this is that I have some files which have exactly the same filename and it’s causing a conflict. I want to add the category name to make the download address unique, but I don’t want to use the download ID as i need to retain the file extension at the end.

Using {category} in the admin panel makes the address look right but cannot find the file. Is there something I’m missing here, I’ve tried everything to get iot to work including modififying my .htaccess file every which way.

Other than that great plugin, only suggestion would be to make managing downloads easier, by allowing the admin to browse through the categories when editing files for example.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
