Support » Plugin: WordPress Beta Tester » [Plugin: WordPress Beta Tester] Update default themes to nightly build too?

  • Hi, It would be great if this would update the themes to the latest or the nightly build of the themes too ?

Took me a while to figure out that my beta install with nightly build was not picking up that the default themes had been updated.

In looking at my ‘normal’ install it looks like it picked up the theme updates a while back, but the nightly build install did not.

Is this a compatibility thing ? – I guess I can get the ‘latest’ themes at least it by pointing the nightly install wp-content to the ‘normal’ installs wp-content.

Or is there a better way to get any updates to theme automatically (I suppose one could do an svn download now and then too)

The builds that this plugin enables to be installed already include the latest changes to the themes that are shipped with core.

Which themes updates are you not seeing happen?

    Hi Peter,

It was not picking up the twenty-ten and twenty-eleven theme updates. (the only ones I tried to use). This caused deprecation notices (custom background call etc) in the beta install.

Took me a while before I learnt that themes had actually been updated. Eventually I manually downloaded the themes and updated them in the beta/nightly build install – all good now.

I thought maybe it was because the theme updates were not valid for the official version and so the normal update did not work and that maybe the theme betas were handled separately ?
