  • I thought about this for a bit. Maybe it isn’t as bad as I thought. I’ve been trialling backup solutions so it may not be this one, but I read that some of them, while backing up, make the site unavailable.

So, probably, silly me for stopping it mid-stream (though I figure 8 hours is plenty of time!) and the site is still offline (though I get a “This webpage is not available. The connection to was interrupted.”)

All the files are intact on the server – there must be something set in a file to do this. Can anyone help?

    Gday mate,

This plugin does not take your site offline. As a SEO expert you should very well know that downtime is bad for page rank! 🙂

The time it takes to backup depends on how long your host allows PHP processes to run. If its set to a really low value then only a couple of files can make it to Dropbox every 5 or so minutes bloating the time to finish.

A connection interrupted message can be the result of anything from a faulty router down to a glitch in the server. So id hazard a guess it was circumstantial.
