Title: plugin woes Last modified: August 20, 2016 --- # plugin woes * [markusk](https://wordpress.org/support/users/markusk/) * (@markusk) * [14 years, 9 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-woes-1/) * finding very little information on how plugins should actually work in a multisite environment – so it’s a little hard to find out if what i have here is “expected”( which i doubt). * after installing a plugin as network admin i do get the option to “activate for all blogs” – after doing so, switching to a blog’s dashboard and looking at the plugins there i can’t see no change. all that’s there is akismet (i deleted “ hello dolly”), and whatever plugins i install, i don’t get to see them per-blog. is this right? * some of those plugins still do work on one blog, but not on another – this made me start to think that there might be something wrong.. * trying to debug i already tried plugins like “Plugins Enabler” and “Restrict Multisite Plugins” – the latter also is showing akismet only, the enabler doesn’t seem to have any effect other than remembering the tickmarks on it’s settings- page.. * thanks, markus Viewing 8 replies - 1 through 8 (of 8 total) * Moderator [Ipstenu (Mika Epstein)](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ipstenu/) * (@ipstenu) * 🏳️‍🌈 Advisor and Activist * [14 years, 9 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-woes-1/#post-2379070) * You cannot see plugins on each site unless you turn on that option for the network. * Network Activating a plugin turns it on for all sites on your network. * Thread Starter [markusk](https://wordpress.org/support/users/markusk/) * (@markusk) * [14 years, 9 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-woes-1/#post-2379085) * i’m afraid you got my problem wrong.. * first off, the plugin-menu for admins *is* activated, but it’s empty for “normal” admins (although there are multiple plugins activated sitewide). * only i as network-admin can see one plugin in these blog-specific menu – it’s akismet. this is disabled site-wide (so it makes sense that normal admins can’t see it). * but again, there are multiple other plugins enabled site-wide, but neither i as network-admin, nor any other “normal” admin can see those in the blog-menus. * thanks, markus. * Moderator [Ipstenu (Mika Epstein)](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ipstenu/) * (@ipstenu) * 🏳️‍🌈 Advisor and Activist * [14 years, 9 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-woes-1/#post-2379093) * That … is all not how it works. I’m not sure, you’ve confused me 🙂 * Provided you really do have the plugin menu activated you get this: * 1) Plugins that are _disabled_ are shown as disabled on _all_ sites. * 2) Plugins that are network enabled are _not_ shown on sites (ditto plugins in mu-plugins). * 3) Plugins that are not network enabled but are enabled on _some_ sites show up on _all_ sites, their enabled/disabled view is depending on their status per site. * Thread Starter [markusk](https://wordpress.org/support/users/markusk/) * (@markusk) * [14 years, 9 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-woes-1/#post-2379099) * ok – then we’re getting somewhere, and i totally misunderstood the concept – i didn’t really grasp it that way from this [http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#WordPress_Plugins](http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#WordPress_Plugins)( and didn’t find any other place dealing with it) * additionally it seems that some of the plugins i installed aren’t quite ready for this – which led to this confusion..
