  • Resolved dansea

    Apologies for the basic question… I have created a number of sidebars using the widgets on page plugin but have only managed to have them appear on the page (in the body of the page) rather than as a sidebar.
    I haven’t added <?php widgets_on_template(“wop_1”); ?> in the PHP theme file as I’m not sure where it should go…

    Hey Dansea,

    Sorry for the late reply, I was on holiday last week.

    Yes, you will need to use a template tag (the code you posted above would be an example of that) and place it into one of the theme’s PHP files. The file you use, and whereabouts in the file you place it, are dependant on the theme you’re using and what you’re trying to achieve.

    Can you post some more details (theme you’re using, what you want to happen, etc) and also a live link if you have one?

    Hi Todd,

    I use a greanearth child theme. This theme gives me three choices of sidebars. I’m using widgets (photos with url links)as navigational tools on the right hand sidebars and I would like to have more choices of sidebars to pick from for my various pages.

    Ah right… so you wanting different sidebars (with different images in) to appear on different pages?

    If so there’s probably two options;

    1. Use something like Widget Logic or Dynamic Widgets plugin
    2. Modify your sidebar.php (I assume this theme has one) and add PHP conditions to display the different sidebars based upon the current page
    3. Have I understood what you’re after?

    Yes that’s right.
    I’ve just downloaded Dynamic Widget which makes things simpler. Thanks so much for your help – I really appreciate it.
