Support » Plugin: Widgets in Columns » [Plugin: Widgets in Columns] The plugin doesn't work for all widgets (for me)

  • I put three widgets (text, text and random text) in the full width sidebar. I configured all three widgets with a 1/3 width. So expect 1 row with 3 columns…

But the result is: The two text widgets are still full page width, only the random text is 1/3, so I’ve three ‘rows’ now.

If I change the order of the widgets in random text, text and text, the random text widget is indeed 1/3, but at the right side both the text widgets are 2/3 (above eachother).

What’s up? I’m not understanding the way of configuring or the pluging doesn’t affect the text widgets?

The plugin hooks to $before_widget and $after_widget args for widgets which is the standard ‘chrome’ for widgets. So in theory this should work in every theme and every widget. My guess is that the widgets that you’re using do not support this before & after widget.
Could you please provide information on the theme and widgets that you’re using so I could debug?

I’m using WordPress 3.2.1 and Platform Pro 1.5.0 from Pagelines as theme.

The plugin ‘Widgets in Columns’ does work with the plugin ‘Random Text’ from Greg Jackson but doesn’t work with the standard ‘Text’ widget.

So now I have three columns with random text widgets, but two of them are static.

I tested this with Platform from theme repository and it’s working fine. Here’s a screenshot of Text and Random Text widgets in the content widget area.
Please check your widget configuration. The total widths you choose should be equal to one (example: 1/2 and 1/2 = 1), otherwise you’ll get weird columns.
