Support » Plugin: Web Editors CMS » [Plugin: Web Editors CMS] The 'Enable CMS Branding' doesn't work

  • When enabling CMS Branding there isn’t a link in the top left corner anymore to take me back to the main page of my WP site, and the Web Editors CMS logo doesn’t show up either. You can tell there should be an image there that is missing and no link either is not good.

This plugin isn’t what I was expecting for a CMS plug-in, very disappointed. Some of the plugins it recommends to install don’t work either.

Is there a true CMS plugin that will make WP act like a CMS? I’m used to using PHP Fusion, the best CMS in my opinion. I’m not sure if it is being updated anymore, due to the developer passing away.

    DesertSun,

I removed the link…. i believe it is not necessary and better to use tabbed browsing.

The image is broken? not sure why? what the the path shown as in the “Settings >> web Editors CMS” page…. you should upload your own logo and change the path.

Disappointed? how long did you spend configuring it? To set up roles and configure the admin screen to look and feel usually takes us a couple of hours to get it right… we have our own build pre-configured we deploy to customer sites so we do not have to do this every time.

This plugin is intended for php5…. what version are you using?

I am not sure why the other recommended plugins will not work for you as the majority of them have been thoroughly tested.

I’ve never looking to PHP fusion, but with my experience – wordpress is the easiest system to use if it is set up right… but will certainly take a look into it.

As far as some of the recommended plugins. I don’t remember which ones, as I uninstalled them, but I was getting some weird error code at the bottom of one of the pages. I did play around with it for a while.

I agree WP is the easiest system. But the main thing I like about PHP Fusion is the categories are on a page rather than an area, like the widgets are in WP. If a category widget could be added to a page and be able to have multiple columns for several categories that would be nice and if the posts could be separated in a category rather than all on the same category page that would be awesome!

I have not figured out a way to do this. If you could implement these into your plugin that would be a great thing!

The image is the default image. I never changed it, I didn’t know I was supposed to change it.

The problem with tabbed browsing with WP is that if you update a page and view it in another tab then WP continues to autosave. So, for example I deleted a sample post using your plug-in with the recommended plugins and had multiple tabs open. One of the plugins then continued to redirect my site to the post that I deleted showing me a page not found. It took me awhile going through numerous plugins to figure out which one was causing the problem.

I have no idea what or how to use some of the recommended plugins, such as Pods, and Reusables. What are these things, and what should they be used for?

My favorite recommended plugin, which I may have never found otherwise is the Ozh drop down menu. I had been thinking that it would be nice to have a drop down menu at the top rather than the side menu.

    DesertSun,

Any CMS will always have quirks in my experience… just one of those things we all have to deal with and know how to work around them.

As far as pods – if you can program in PHP you will understand the power behind them… check out the docs and support site for the all of the other plugins on the list…. they are all very powerful and server a specific purpose when it comes to web content management.

I have spent a lot of time cleaning up my WP admin panel after installing recommended plugins that only seem to clutter the admin panel.

    DesertSun,

Sorry to hear about your difficulties… this plugin is intended to make worpdress a CMS… something to dummy down the admin interface for your customers with you branded name it. We do recommend a lot of plugins that may clutter the screen for admins; setting user roles, using the admin menu editor (to clean up the admin menu for other user roles) and knowing how to code PHP is really a must especially when using Pods. If this is not you then this plugin is probably not for you. Otherwise, I would suggest spending time understanding each individual plugins features. Pods in the list is truly what puts it over the top.

I would appreciate having the link back in the top as well. I did not realize how much I used that link until I did not have it anymore. I usually right clicked it and opened it in a new tab… It also helps my new users with a fast way to view their site. Not having this is not a big deal, but it is an inconvenience. Thanks for a fantastic plugin!

You got it ahoffman50… I just added the ability add/remove this option… I just committed the code to SVN.. should show up as an update in a bit. Cheers!

    Thank you so much!
