Why are you use "\/" in htaccess? (2 posts)

    Hi Frederick,
    I have seen that in the htaccess file, when the plugin writes something about a directory, it uses the \ (backslash) before the / (slash) of the dir, but / is not a special characters so there is no reason to use the backslash!
    As you can see here:
    http://www.regular-expressions.info/reference.html
    the backslash is used only to suppress the special meaning of a special character, and because of slash is not special, a line like:
    \/wp-admin\/
    should be:
    /wp-admin/

    In order to make W3TC compatible with a lot of OSes, http servers etc; some environments require that escapement for backslashes.
