[Resolved] [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding header for static files

  • I alway get this notice “Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding” on running google page speed tool on my site. I am hosting the minified css and js files from Amazon S3 CDN. Not sure how to enable that header value for those files. Any help here?

Can you submit a bug submission form from the support tab of the plugin so I can see your settings?

Hi Frederick, I just submitted the form. Upon submitting it gave the confirmation “Your support request has been successfully sent.”

    Ok.

    Hi Frederick,

Are you planning on adding this ability (or default) to future versions of the plugin? I also hit this issue. I added the header myself through the S3 AWS Console, but obviously that won’t persist if I upload new minified files.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Actually, I take that back: it’s not possible to specify such a header for files in S3. See discussion on the AWS forums here. Perhaps the Page Speed suggestion should just be removed, as mentioned here.

Do keep us updated on your plans/decisions, Frederick.

    Thanks!
