• Bonjour Frederick,
    You have a really fantastic program in W3 Total Cache for which I thank you.

    Hopefully this is not a difficult issue. I’m getting this message:
    ==================
    Database caching is not available. Memcached server localhost:11211 is not running or is non-responsive.
    ==================

    Is the problem because my host does not have ‘memcached’ running or is the database on a different port to 11211 ?? How can I find out? I have asked my ip host but have not gotten a response.
    Many thanks again.
    Joan

  • Unless you have a virtual private server or dedicated server database caching is not going to be an option for you. So what remains is page caching, minification and CDN support.

    Sweet plugin!

    I have the same issue tho’ with “Database caching is not available. Memcached server localhost:11211 is not running or is non-responsive.”

    From what I can tell all these functions are for Linux / Apache.

    I’m running IIS6.0, I have full control of my server (which already has Gzip enabled,ETags removed and a far-in-the-future date for page expiry – can you suggest a way I can get round this problem?

    Sci-Fi Si

    The only windows tips I have are on the install tab: /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=w3-total-cache/w3-total-cache.php&tab=install – look for the windows links there. I’ve done successful IIS installations before with memcached, so all should be ok, provided you can get the necessary files installed. There are tons of goodies in the next release as well scheduled before 1.0 that will keep you hooked on W3TC. 🙂
