# [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] index.php caching

 * have the latest version of everything, and using HostGator — they flagged the
   index.php file — what is the downside to caching the index.php versus having 
   it never cached?

 * PHP files are never cached, it’s the output from WP (index.php in almost all 
   cases) that needs to be cached to answer requests.
