[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] .htaccess permission issues with bluehost

  • Hello,

When I try to install w3 total cache on a wordless 3.5.1 install, I get the common permissions error on my .htaccess file.

This would be an easy fix, except, W3TC is looking in the wrong place. For the wp-config.php file it looks in the right spot:
File: /home3/<username>/public_html/wp-config.php File permissions are 644 File owner: partney2:partney2

But for the .htaccess file its looking in /:
File: /.htaccess File permissions are 0, however they should be 644. File owner: root:root

the real .htaccess file in /home3/<username>/public_html is set to 644 and is owned by my own username.

My hosting provider is blue host.

    Thanks,

    -Luke

Hi, I have the exact same issue and my hositing is also with Bluehost. I’ve been trying to resolve this for 2 days now without success. Can someone help.

File: /.htaccess File permissions are 0, however they should be 644. File owner: root:root

    Many thanks, Martin
