[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] fatal error while trying to activate

When I install thru add new plugin it looks okay, when I try to activate I get a fatal error.

My wp-content is 777 drwxrwxrwx 9 plcseuweb psacln 1024 Jul 3 12:47 wp-content

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
/var/www/vhosts/plcs.eu/httpdocs/wp-content/w3tc/dbcache could not be created, please run following command:
chmod 777 /var/www/vhosts/plcs.eu/httpdocs/wp-content/w3tc

okay fine but there is no location for w3tc at all… while when I look here:
/var/www/vhosts/plcs.eu/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/wp-content

I do see a folder with the name w3tc… chmod that one does not do anything, the uninstall works nice. When I reinstall and created a folder myself the activator seems to delete that folder…
