[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Disk vs Memcached

  • I am currently running Total Cache on my server, I just installed memcached and am trying to figure out the best setup. I have eAccelerator installed and running, but TC doesn’t detect it (something to do with a setting in eAccelerator I haven’t enabled) so I can use basic disc or memcached. I CAN run enhanced, but it causes some issues with my .htaccess settings and is a bit of a hassle.

Should I use disc, disc enhanced or memcached for page caching, and also just between basic and memcached?

    Disc or Memcached for Minify?

    Disc or Memcached for Database?

I run on a quad core VPS with 2GB ram dedicated and 4GB burst. Let me know how I should be setting these, thanks!

  • Anyone?

Still looking for some advice on this one.

Well, I also have one more thing to add. I run WP from a directory (/blog) and when I set caching mode to Enhanced it tells me to setup the info in the /blog/.htaccess file. I do not want to use an .htaccess file in this directory, so I hide the message and set it up in my main directories .htaccess file. Will this work? It does say its cached with enhanced in the source of the site now, but I’m not sure if its really working or not.

Also I am still looking for advice on if I should use memcached for any of the 3 or just use disk all the way. My host said I make a lot of disk writes and I’m not sure if offsetting some of those to memory would help or not.
