• HI there,

I’ve never had an issue with this plugin on any of my sites till today. My client, an artist, was showing her site to a bigwig in her field and she got the following on the front end of her site, instead of her site:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) in /home/dreammos/public_html/wp-content/plugins/visitor maps/include-whos-online-geoip.php on line 4519

The site is http://www.twodogartstudio.com. I’m using version 1.5.8.1

I couldn’t recreate that issue on my machine, but after looking up the error, I lowered the number of map pins a few times (now down to 1000) and the map shows up on the back end, but when I open it in the map viewer, I get this error instead of the map:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 81 bytes) in /home/dreammos/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1449

There is a sub-site on this domain (twodogartstudio.com/dreamland) that also uses this plugin and that one is working fine.

I finally deactivated the plugin so she can use her site today. Any suggestions on what I should do when her event is over this week to get this thing working correctly again?

    Thanks,
    Tracey

  • Only way to fix this is to increase PHP memory limit – if you are on shared hosting contact the hosting company –
They’ve set the memeory to 32MB – sort of default for many share hosting basic setups – definitely not enough memory for anything but a default WordPres installation. The problem will come back even without the plugin installed as the site grows
Ask for at least 64MB, or preferrably 100MB to 126MB to avoid future problems
If they won’t increase it, I suggest your friend moves the site to a host that is more client friendly. (sorry to sound so abrupt!)
