Visitor Maps uses the web server variable $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']
to determine the visitors IP address.
I am not familiar with Cloudflare. Sorry I do not have help for Cloudflare conflict.
Hi Mike… cloudflare is the site caching service recommended by hostgator. I thought because you used hostgator you might also be using their new site caching tools.
Yeah, I have this same problem with the IP addresses but not really sure of a work around since CloudFlare is delivering the traffic.
rabideau, Mike, Cloudflare is a reverse proxy service, obscuring IP adresses is part of what it does.
As a result they are very unpopular with International spam fighters, and with spammer/hacker/scraper databases. International spammer/hacker criminals hide behind that service.
The famous hacker group Lulzsec uses Cloudflare, as does the support forum for the SEO spammer software “Xrumer”.
I am surprised to learn that Hostgator advocates using Cloudflare, I will need to report that to spam fighting groups I belong to.
Yes, many innocent people use Cloudflare, but Cloudflare repeatedly refuses to deny free and paid service to outright Internet criminals, therefore there is a movement to “out” them for “aiding & abetting” the natural enemies of everyone who runs software by WordPress.
Details about Cloudflare and spaming can be found at StopForumSpam.com if you’re interested.
