  • For each site the support needs to be added separately. Not sure if we could borrow WordPress core’s oEmbed functionality to add some 30 sites instantly, but as there are thousands of video sites, only a portion of them can be covered.

PinkBike.com seems to have an easy enough logic for the thumbnails. With the example video address http://www.pinkbike.com/video/252627/ the example thumb address is http://av1.pinkbike.org/vt/1/vt-252627.jpg, found in the page’s HTML source code. However, I didn’t see a way to show the video as part of my WordPress site.

Mpora.com uses videos that seem very similar to Vimeo, but doesn’t have information about their API format. They do have embed codes, though. Their own thumbnail URLs don’t follow a singular pattern. For example the video at http://video.mpora.com/watch/vlCv9OsmA/ has its tiny thumbnail at http://cdn5.video.mporatrons.com//play/tnwide/vlCv9OsmA/m/2/, where the numbers after “cdn” and “/m/” are different for each video.

Rkovachev, if you could ask Mpora.com administrators for a syntax that would always give a working thumbnail URL based on the video URL, it would cover one necessary step towards adding the support in the plugin. With PinkBike.com, it’d be necessary to know a way for embedding the videos in WordPress posts for the thumbnail support to be feasible.

Thank you for your answer, I will try to contact Mpora.
    But I’m not sure what you ask about Pinkbike, the code for the above video is: <object width=’500′ height=’375′><param name=’allowFullScreen’ value=’true’ /><param name=’allowScriptAccess’ value=’always’ /><param name=’movie’ value=’http://www.pinkbike.com/v/252627/l/’ /><embed src=’http://www.pinkbike.com/v/252627/l/’ type=’application/x-shockwave-flash’ width=’500′ height=’375′ allowFullScreen=’true’ allowScriptAccess=’always’></embed></object>. Just tell me what you need.

Also I need thumbs for two other sites – http://extube.org and http://www.vitalmtb.com. Here’s an example: http://extube.org/watch_video.php?v=RWNK8XKKUM69 and http://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/member/GT-Kyle-Strait-and-Tyler-McCaul-Santa-Cruz,12928/TSage,153

I’m working on version 2.0 which includes some major code reorganization that will make adding new video sites much easier. If you sign up to test the beta there’s a better chance I’ll add support for those sites!

    I will sign!

Looks like MPORA does have a standard URL for thumbnails. I think MPORA support can be added by 2.0, but not sure about the others yet.

It’s exactly what you need for Mpora.

Could you include facebook videos too?

Mpora is in the beta being tested, and Facebook will be in the next beta I send out.

Mpora change the embed code and there is no thumb now.

    And another request:

Could you add http://www.extube.org to the plugin.

    Example of the embed code: <object width=”640″ height=”360″><param name=”movie” value=”http://extube.org/player/jw_player_5/player.swf?config=http://extube.org/player/cbplayer/emb.php?hqid=1288″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://extube.org/player/jw_player_5/player.swf?config=http://extube.org/player/cbplayer/emb.php?hqid=1288″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”640″ height=”360″></embed></object>

“http://extube.org/player/cbplayer/emb.php?hqid=1288” You could find the big thumb here – http://extube.org/files/thumbs/13382215479731a-big.jpg or a small thumb from 1 to 3 here – http://extube.org/files/thumbs/13382215479731a-1.jpg

    Thanx!
