Just upgraded to version 6.06 of The Events Calendar and the site crashed.

Can I get access to ver 6.05 ? That seemed to be working fine.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • We are seeing the same thing with v6.0.6. I have two sites now that I have upgraded and it completely crashes the front end of the site.

    Seeing the following error:

[14-Dec-2022 15:59:47 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function is_main_query() on null in /home/website/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/functions/template-tags/general.php:1896

    (END)

wp plugin install the-events-calendar –version=6.0.5 –force

This works to get the 6.0.5 back and resolved the issue for now.

Same here. Reverting to 6.0.5 fixes the issue. Here’s what I see on the frontend with 6.0.6:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function is_main_query() on null in /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/functions/template-tags/general.php:1896 Stack trace: #0 /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Query.php(130): tribe_is_events_front_page() #1 /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(308): Tribe__Events__Query::parse_query(Object(WP_Query)) #2 /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(332): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #3 /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php(565): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #4 /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-query.php(1127): do_action_ref_array('parse_query', Array) #5 /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-query.php(1820): WP_Query->parse_query in /home/customer/www/landingsnewneighbors.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/functions/template-tags/general.php on line 1896

ditto on at least one of my sites

    wp cli command is actually
wp plugin install the-events-calendar –version=6.0.5 –force (need the two hyphens before version and force)

Yeah, copy paste converted them to singles.. sorry

    Hi There!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to report this and for jumping in to provide more information.

We are already working on a fix for this problem. We’ll post another update as soon as the fix goes out.

If you hit the error you can downgrade to The Events Calendar 6.0.5 by using the above mentioned WP CLI command:

wp plugin update the-events-calendar --version=6.0.5 --force

Other ways to downgrade can be found in this article

This update crashed one of my clients’ sites today. Can you please send me an update when this is fixed.

    Hi there,

Our developers have released a new version fixing the issue mentioned here, and the Events Calendar version 6.0.6.1 will work without that problem.

Please let us know if you have any other issue, we’ll be happy to help.

    Best Regards,

    Guga

    That worked! Thank you!

6.0.6.1 still breaks for instance the carousel used by the CustomizrPro theme.

The only way to resolve the issue is to downgrade Events Calendar to 6.0.5

Good morning. I have a “related/similar” issue with 3 sites. Version 6.0.6 causes a 404 error on the home page (a “soft” error 404 page from WordPress – not the 404 from apache). Reverting to 6.0.5 fixes the issue. Tried 6.0.6.1 already, same problem as 6.0.6. Logging is enable but nothing is logged in this case. I can open a different issue but somehow seems related. Only workaround is downgrade to 6.0.5. Same theme on both websites, called Altitude Pro from Studio Press (a Genesis theme): https://demo.studiopress.com/altitude/ All other plugins have been disabled; no effect. Toggling the-event-calendar version between 6.0.5 and 6.0.6 causes the problem. Thank you.
