  • Hello community,

My name is Dave Wagner, I’m the new maintainer of the User-Photo plugin. I understand that a lot of you have open bug reports and feature requests and over the next few weeks I’m going to do my best (with a family and my wife joining the military, it will be hard so please be nice) to catch up with all bug’s and release an intermediary bug fix release before I start working on version 1.0.

My plans for 1.0 are to address as many of your feature requests as I possibly can and I have a few things of my own that I would like to add to this plugin. I’m also in the process of setting up a new support site that will be a little easier to follow than the WordPress.org forum structure (at least for me).

I’m also going to ask that anyone who has offered bug fixes to this project, your more than welcome to join the project and contribute actively. I believe that this plugin is an important feature left out of WordPress and this might be your chance to get in on something that may eventually become part of the core. If your at all interested please write me at me(at)dave-wagner.com (you can also send bug fix requests to that address for the time being until I get the support site set up). Not to mention, as with everything in life, we can all use a little help and support from our friends.

As I’m sure some of you might be wondering, this plugin will remain free. I’ll never try to trick you into paying some fee to get ahold of this software, I offer it up freely.

  • Welcome to the project, Dave! I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the continuation of this very cool plugin, and to see in what direction your vision takes it.

    Hi Dave,

Thank you your help it is very much appreciated.

I was fooling around trying to fix the bug that shows the admin user photo in every profile when logged as admin and after removing !is_admin additional condition from the following line:
    line 78
    if(get_option(‘userphoto_override_avatar’) && !is_admin())
    so it is now
    if(get_option(‘userphoto_override_avatar’))
The user listing started to show the user photos in the admin view.

I will keep digging for the solution to the bud that user photo pulls the logged user photo instead of the profile user photo.
If anyone has hints I am all ears 🙂

    Kind regards,

    Claude

    Hello,

I have one guidance/fix request that should be uncomplicated…

The folder I use for uploaded content is not wp-content/uploads, its somewhere else, above public_html so that permissions can be 777.
Wordpress itself knows this because I adjusted its settings, but userphoto is trying to upload to the default wp-content/uploads folder, with the result that it does not have permission.

How can I get userphoto to upload to my specified upload folder?

    Many thanks,
    Louise

    Dave,

upon installing the user photo plugin, and attempting to upload a photo in my admin profile, any subsequent visits to my admin user profile page are interrupted with a dropdown window that mandates another login – says:

“A username and password are being requested by http://www.martinsclass.com. The site says: “WP-Files””

This window does not recognize valid login info. It simply says that any login is invalid.

Also, the uploaded photos do not appear.

I searched through the posts regarding this plugin and have not found the exact problem. Can you help!?!

    Thanks much,

    Jeff

Dave, is there an option whereby we can have the upload dialog on an “author profile” page on the frontend instead of having authors login to the backend of WP?

I’m obviously just getting started with PHP and as i think about other programs maybe something like an ‘include’?

I dunno, but maybe someone has some thoughts for me…

    Terry

I, too, would like to be able to allow users to upload a photo when they register. I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own, and if I do manage it, I’d be glad to share my code.

    Hello –

I have an issue that I cannot see the user photos in the admin “Users” panel – I see they are there when I click into a user’s profile, but I am only seeing the blank avatar in the Users admin list. Can someone let me know the fix for that? (I’m on 2.8.4 and MimboPro theme.) When I tried what was mentioned above, I got a fatal error and the plugin was deactivated.

And, I have tried every way I can but I’d like to my users be able to upload their photos at registration, instead of just adding it to the bottom of the profile page after they’ve registered. So, I echo the sentiments of those above to please add that to the list for things that we’d love to see in the plugin. Thanks!
