# [Plugin: User Access Manager] Getting started

 * I’m trying to get started with User Access Manager.
 * I have one access group set up and that’s associated with one category. The admin
   user and the one other user are checked as members of the group.
 * There’s one post in the category I’m trying to protect. It has no references 
   to any files in the upload directory. [The upload directory and its .htaccess
   file are in a nonstandard location (document-root/uploads). The WP address is
   [http://mydomain/wp](http://mydomain/wp) while the Blog address is [http://mydomain](http://mydomain).
   I have no other plugins installed and everything else is at the defaults.]
 * I’m logged in as the admin, but I get “Sorry no rights” when I try to access 
   the post.
 * Any suggestions? And apologies in advance if I’ve missed something obvious — 
   this looks like a plugin that provides exactly the functionality I need.

 * I also tried going back to the default theme and installing the template.php 
   that the docs indicate are optional for 2.8 (at least the way I read them). Same
   result with both of those changes.

 * This problem “went away,” but then things broke again when I tried to protect
   a file.
