# Plugin Upgrade Failure

 * Whenever I try to upgrade my plugin automatically I get the following message:
 * > Download failed.: name lookup timed out
   > Plugin upgrade Failed
 * I need this to work because I have many plugins, and don’t want to have to do
   it manually.

 * Perhaps something here will be of help? Appears to be similar symptoms listed.
   A couple appeared to have resolutions.

 * None of those solutions are working. For the /etc/hosts/ solution, would be host
   have to do that?

 * I cannot upgrade my wordpress to 2.8.4 automatically or manually. the last time
   i tried manually i had to restore my whole site. The error message i get is
 * Unable to locate WordPress Root directory.
 * Installation Failed
 * Urgent help as cannot upgrade any of my plugins either.

   or even suggested solution. Bummer!
