# Plugin Update Failure

 * I keep getting this error message when I try to update The Events Calendar plugin:“
   Update failed: Could not copy file. the-events-calendar/build/app/main.asset.
   php”
 * I checked file permissions using FileZilla, all good.
 * How do I fix this?

 * This sounds like a file permissions issue with your web server. I recommend reaching
   out to your WebHost and ensure that your web server has write permissions to 
   your `/wp-content/plugins/` folder. Alternatively, you can do a manual update(
   see [Manual Updates](https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/manual-updates/)).
