# Plugin update failed

 * I have been trying to update all my plugins but I have difficulty doing and all
   I get is this on all. can someone help, thank you

 * Unpacking the update…
 * Installing the latest version…
 * Removing the old version of the plugin…
 * Could not remove the old plugin.
 * Plugin update failed.

 * check file permissions and if possible you can try with turning off safe mode.

 * How about simply deactivating and deleting the soon-to-be replaced plugin? I 
   too have seen the issue before and the workaround for me was getting past the“
   Could not remove the old plugin” part. But, as [@sunil333](https://wordpress.org/support/users/sunil333/)
   said above, whenever issues like this come up it’s wise to check one’s permissions,
   in this case, at wp-content/plugins.

 * Note that, just now, on a default install of WordPress 4.1 running on MAMP version
   3.0.7.3, I was able to manually download and install an older version of Better
   Delete Revision (ver. 1.6) and then update the active plugin with the newer 1.6.1
   version via Dashboard > Updates. So, [@ocamqo](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ocamqo/),
   I am curious if this issue of yours has occurred before when trying to update
   other plugins as well?

   nailed your problem. That is, it certainly sounds like you have some kind of 
   permissions issue going on in, at the very least, your wp-content subfolder and
   its subfolders. Have a look at this link which might be helpful:
