 * Hi,
 * I’ve been having an issue to get the shortcodes dropdown button to display in
   my editor.
 * Problem persists even though I have done following:
 * 1) Tried in Firefox
    2) Tried in Chrome 3) Cleared browser cache 4) Disabled
   all plugins except for Ultimate TinyMCE 5) Resetting plugin
 * Also, if I enable Firebug on editor page – interestingly I get the following
   error:
 * “invalid regular expression flag h
    [http://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-tinymce/shortcodes-editor-selector/editor_plugin.js.php?ver=349-20805](http://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-tinymce/shortcodes-editor-selector/editor_plugin.js.php?ver=349-20805)
   Line 2″
 * Any ideas anyone?
 * Cheers,

 * Are you using the new shortcodes button? The old one with the dropdown is gone.
   There is now a new button for shortcodes, which needs to be activated from within
   the settings page.

 * Josh, version 2.8 works in WP ver. 3.5 beta (single version). I tested the shortcodes
   button and everything works fine. Shortcodes display and appear in the post when
   clicked on.
 * Version 2.8 doesn’t work in WP 3.4.1 Multi. Shortcodes display is blank.
 * Tested both on a same local server. I haven’t tested the possibility of another
   plugin conflict. I’ll test and if there is, I’ll post back.
 * Ron
 * UPDATE
 * Went through all my plugins and there doesn’t seem to be a conflict.
 * I wonder if there is a difference in WP 3.5 in the way plugins are called or
   displayed? That would explain why it works there but not in the current version.

 * Thanks Ron,
 * Well, I’m using it on version 3.4.1 with no problems. And my test site is in
   a subfolder. So, I don’t think it’s a WordPress version thing.
 * I haven’t been able to identify why it’s only working across various installations.
   It uses the global $shortcodes to generate the list…

 * Are you using it on the single install of ver. 3.4.1? That could be a clue since
   I have a problem with it on ver. 3.4.1 MultiSite.
 * It does sound like a folder, or directory, problem.
 * I get the box for the shortcodes, but it is blank. No error message either.

 * No, mine is not a multisite.
 * Okay, I’ll need to look into it a little more. I’m getting ready to take the
   kiddo to a theme park for the day. It’ll be late tonight before I get a chance
   to get back into this.

 * Josh, you made the right call taking your daughter to the theme park.
    She should
   be priority one.
 * I’ll look into this when I get a little more time and see if I can find the problem.

 * Is there any way to get the old shortcuts pulldown menu back ? Well; apart from
   re-installing an older version of the plugin, which I intend to do.
 * So far I enjoyed the plugin and this option is actually the one I use most often.
   Unfortunately with the latest updates the pulldown menu has become a pop up window
   and I really dislike that behaviour.
 * My main gripe is that the window overlaps my screen (I’m using 1024×768 on my
   main computer), and I simply liked the pulldown menu a lot better. The menu didn’t
   take my attention away from the stuff I’m writing; I think a pop up window merely
   because of the window is a tad silly.
 * Kind regards,
 * Peter

 * Well, the core of WordPress has changed, which is why the dropdown selections
   are no longer working.
 * You can always revert back to a previous version… but sooner or later, it’s going
   to stop working. WordPress is alive… and constant updates will continue to be
   released.
 * This popup is the only solution I could find to the shortcodes issue, given the
   five days I worked on this getting it to function properly. Granted, it’s not
   perfect. But, it’s the best I can do with my coding knowledge.
 * I’ll try to look into a dropdown button again, once I get some other (more pressing)
   issues off my back.
 * Sorry for the inconveniences.

 * Okay… I’m setting up a multisite test site right now. I’ll make this multisite
   thing my next big project… as if I don’t already have enough to do 😉
 * I would appreciate if anyone who reads this who has not joined in to let me know
   if it’s working or not.. and what settings you use on your blog (single or multi
   site, subdomain or subdirectory, etc).
 * Also, those of you using multisite… what types of features would you like to
   have?

 * Josh,
 * You are good man for following through on this. I have already given you as much
   information as I can. Will certianly test (on single site) as soon as updates
   come through.
 * When you do finally crack it… I’ll definitely be dropping a little something
   in the donation box.
 * Onya bro !

 * Well.. here is the solution to the multisite… let’s see if it hopefully filters
   down to the other issues… (FINGERS CROSSED)…
 * Open `ultimate-tinymce/shortcodes/shortcodes.php`
 * At the very top, change this:
 *     ```
       <?php
       // Hook into WordPress so we can use all the custom functions and global variables
       $file = dirname(__FILE__);
       $file = substr($file, 0, stripos($file, "wp-content") );
       //require( $file . "/wp-load.php");
       require( $file . "/wp-admin/admin.php");
       require( $file . "/wp-admin/includes/admin.php");
       ?>
       ```
 * To this:
 *     ```
       <?php
       // Hook into WordPress so we can use all the custom functions and global variables
       $file = dirname(__FILE__);
       $file = substr($file, 0, stripos($file, "wp-content") );
       // Added for multisite
       $file2 = dirname(__FILE__);
       $file2 = substr($file, 0, stripos($file2, "wp-content") );
       //require( $file . "/wp-load.php");
       require( $file . "/wp-admin/admin.php");
       require( $file2 . "/wp-admin/includes/admin.php");
       ?>
       ```

 * Let’s see what that does…
 * EDIT: Dang.. I still see the notice at the top in debug mode… hmmm…. Oh well,
   this should still work for the multisite people.
 * Going to work on the notice now…

 * Josh, it works! I forgot to change the last line at first ($file to $file2) and
   it didn’t work. Went through uninstalling and reinstalling, then finally realized
   my mistake.
 * It will be worth it for you to have a test MultiSite install. A lot of users
   are going that direction.

 * Ooops… that’s my fault. You are correct. It should read like this:
 *     ```
       <?php
       // Hook into WordPress so we can use all the custom functions and global variables
       $file = dirname(__FILE__);
       $file = substr($file, 0, stripos($file, "wp-content") );
       // Added for multisite
       $file2 = dirname(__FILE__);
       $file2 = substr($file2, 0, stripos($file2, "wp-content") );
       //require( $file . "/wp-load.php");
       require( $file . "/wp-admin/admin.php");
       require( $file2 . "/wp-admin/includes/admin.php");
       ?>
       ```
 * Hi Josh,
 * Above code tested. All is good except for…
 * I’m seeing the “Insert Shortcodes” pop-up panel and just above the WP image –
   I see this error:
 * [blockquote]”Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /*******/public_html/wp-includes/
   vars.php on line 28″[/blockquote]
 * I run single site.
 * Yeah… thanks. I’m working on it. This is going to appear on everyone’s site regardless
   of single, multi, etc.
 * It has to do with echoing out the foreach loop using the global for shortcodes
   defined by wordpress.
 * I’ll post back when I find a solution.
 * Note, this notice is only visible when wp-debug is set to true.
