Support » Plugin: Twitter Tools » [Plugin: Twitter Tools] Error when trying to "Connect to Twitter"

  • Hello,

I’ve just updated to the newest version of Twitter Tools (2.4), registered my application Twitter-Dev and copied all the necessary information to Twitter Tools. Buy sorrily I get the following error, as soon as I click on the “Connect to Twitter” button:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /var/www/virtual/loud.fm/renet/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/twitter-tools/twitteroauth.php on line 201

Anyone else getting this problem? What can I do? Some say that it’s because the cURL libs aren’t installed on my webserver – I’m not sure if my host will install them just for me. But authentication worked well before the update. Isn’t there a way to do the authentication without cURL libs? Thanks in advance! 🙂

    Cheers,
    René

  • The library he’s using requires curl. When I made my Twitter plugin, I modified that library to use the WordPress HTTP API for doing that stuff, to enable it to work on a wider variety of hosts.

I’ve sent a comment to the author, maybe he can modify his version of the library as well.

I have the same issue – my host supports Curl and it is enabled however it doesn’t work with Windows hosting. Solution seems to be to switch to Linux hosting or get a new bit of code…

Anyone have a pre-written code I can use?

    Thanks….
