I have a client who originally had their entire site ssl. They have the Topsy Retweet Button installed, and have pages that were originally tweeted with the https protocol. If the settings in WordPress itself are set to the https version of the site then the Topsy button uses that url. However, if the site is set to you http (which is what we want to change it to, except for the contact forms) then Topsy uses http on the button when you visit http, and https if you visit the same page in https. It recognizes those as two different urls, and loses the counts in them. In other words, if https not set in the settings then it depends on which version you visit in your browser, if it is set then you Topsy sees https either way.
I attempted to recode the plugin to change all references to permalinks to be https regardless but that had no effect. Does anyone know of a hack to force Topsy to use the https protocol on the links, for consistency?
