Plugin to improve or filter search?

    I installed WordPress, but the search function is terrible right now… it wildcards all searches. So for example, if I search for “war”, it will display results for everything from war to things like ward, warning, etc..

    Is there any way to stop it from displaying these useless results?

    I’ve tried many plugins, but most of them just add tags and titles to the search, which produces even more useless/unrelated results.

    If you don’t like the options available, then the alternative is to write your own..

    I’m not sure what other kind of answer i could provide if you’ve tried what’s available already.
