Across the network? No. They’re all per-site,
What content are you trying to change on all these sites?
I have a network where I basically run “replicated” sites. There are times I need to make the SAME change to EVERY site in the network. I was hoping there was a script that would allow me to do this via automation rather than manually.
Given than ‘replicated’ sites is usually a bad idea (hurts your SEO and your branding), no, not really.
Now that said, there ARE cases where you want to have the same content, and for that I might use http://wordpress.org/plugins/post-content-shortcodes/
Personally when I have shared content, I make a site my ‘master’ and have everyone link back. So if the about page on all my sites is the same, then they all link to that main site.
Mika, I appreciate you taking the time to express your concern and the reasons for it. However, this particular website was built this way for a specific purpose, and I can assure you seo-rankings are not what we’re after (lol).
Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, since the sites are already built, it would be more time-intensive to go back and add shortcodes. That’s why I was hoping there was a plugin or script that would allow me to type in a string to search throughout the network, and replace it with another string that I specify.
Does anyone know if such a plugin or script exists?
Alas no, not even SQL lets you search and replace (easily) across multiple tables.
You could use http://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/ but I don’t know how well that might work.
Mike, thanks for all your help. I knew it would be a crapshoot whether there would be something that could do it. I’ll look at your recommendations and see if either helps. Again, I appreciate your assistance.
