I’ve installed TinyMCE Advanced and have tried to extend the editor functionality with it. It was a bit tricky but I’ve got there except for tables.

In the setup I have added
    Option: theme_advanced_buttons3
    Value: styleselect,fontsizeselect,fontselect.tablecontrols

I get dropdowns for the first three items but none of the table control buttons I expect.

Some of the on-line pages about the plugin describe a much more GUI arrangement than seems to be available. Are they just out of date – or am I missing something?

“tablecontrols” is a shortcut for TinyMCE buttons that would output all 12 table buttons at once. Not sure where you copied the above “Value:” from but it shouldn’t have any . (dot) in there, only commas.

    Thanks Andrew.

The dot was a copying error, I was using commas all the time but whatever combination I used, the tablecontrols didn’t appear.

I discovered my confusion about the GUI interface was because two of your plugins had similar names ‘TinyMCE Advanced’ and ‘TinyMCE Advanced Config’. The latter works for me and allows the table control buttons – Excellent!

Ah, yes. Advanced TinyMCE Configuration is for adding or changing the settings for the editor, there are quite a lot of them.

    Hi!
I just installed this plug in and something very strange happens in the rich text editor now: when I click on a button, up comes a window that says it is a htm file and it wants to download it. Any idea why? I’m using the latest version of wp and twenty eleven theme. Hope you can help! Thank you so much.
