# [Plugin: Theme My Login] It doesn't actually replace wp-login.php

 * This plugin doesn’t actually replace wp-login.php like the description says it
   does. It gives you a new, separate login page at `/login`, but wp-login.php is
   still there, showing the default WordPress theming.
 * This means all my existing users who are used to logging in at the default location
   will continue to log in that way and not benefit from this plugin at all.
 * Is there a way I can get wp-login.php to redirect to the new login URL so as
   not to confuse my existing users?
 * Thanks!

 * I just realized that /wp-login.php doesn’t even work when Theme My Login is active.
   It won’t let registered users log in through that url anymore–it just repeatedly
   gives “ERROR: Invalid username or incorrect password.” It _will_, however, let
   them navigate to that url via their old bookmarks, where they will try their
   darnedest to log in, fail, and then be very frustrated and confused. That’s not
   good.
 * So basically I can’t use this plugin until I find a way to redirect users from
   the old login URL to the new one. That’s too bad, because otherwise it seems
   like a great plugin.

 * I found a workaround: I’m using the Redirection plugin to redirect /wp-login.
   php to /login.

 * Man, I’m glad I stumbled upon this. That’s slightly more of a pain than I would
   have liked!

 * Hi – please bear with me because I am not that technical. I have used the redirect
   but am still showing “ERROR: Invalid username or incorrect password” on the wp-
   login.php page for login. It will let you login but it is as if the default is
   to show the error.
 * Any ideas on how to get rid?

 * KatieKat,
 * If you’re still getting that error it probably means you haven’t set up the Redirection
   plugin correctly. When I navigate to wp-login.php I don’t see wp-login.php at
   all. Instead I am instantly redirected to /login/.
 * I’m not affiliated with either of these plugins, so my suggestion would be to
   go over to the Redirection plugin forums and ask there:

 * Hi Boonofdoom,
    managed to find the answer to this on the TML authors support
   forum. Within the TML plugin there is a security option that does not seem to
   be working. As soon as I unticked the security option everything was ok.
 * Many thanks for your reply and finding the redirection plugin as a workaround
   as it is brilliant and really useful.
 * Kind Regards
 * Katie Kat
