Support » Fixing WordPress » [Plugin: The Events Calendar] How to activate calendar

  • Resolved delocurr

    I’m using wp 2.9.2.

I activated the Events Calendar plugin earlier today and have spent the last several hours reading this forum and the readme file to learn how to show the calendar. The events list widget shows up just fine in the sidebar, , I have Google maps, but I get nothing more than the name of the Events Calendar widget.

    I’m missing something.
    1. I don’t understand which setting I need to put the permalinks on (I saw those mentioned a lot)

    2. I don’t understand how to link the category to the calendar.
And basically, I just am not sure what to do.

    3. Is there anyway NOT to have the post also show up, since the event list is already on the page?

This plugin promises to be just what I’m looking for, and I’ve seen some of the sites that have gotten it to work successfully, and frankly, I’m envious.

Would someone please give me simple layman instructions, as I have little to no skills with php code. Just imagine that I am not smarter than a 5th grader, and go from there.

    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. I decided to go with another calendar.

    What was the other calendar?

It’s called, simply, Calendar, and can be found here:

It does not require creating a post to show. It has it’s own interface in which to insert events. It can be styled. And it’s truly a one click installation. I’ve used it before, but thought The Events Calendar might add a layer of sophistication, yet I am satisfied with its appearance and performance.

Hmm…sorry about highlighting the whole paragraph as a link (can’t edit), but it can be found here:
