• I’ve just recently installed the latest 2.0.3 version of The Events Calendar and have run into a couple of issues. I’ll seperate them out so as not to confuse the issue.

So firstly, I’ve found that I cannot get the calendar gridview to work, if I am pulling in a template that is using the pulling in a php sidebar file that is referencing the dynamic_sidebar.

If I do reference it, then I get the List View, but it will not display the Calendar as in Grid View. If I remove reference to the dynamic_sidebar, then I can see the Grid View but I then lose the sidebar and therefore most of my site’s navigation options…

I’m an able php tinkerer, but I’m struggling with the complexities of WordPress and need some help please…

Update – After further investigation, I’ve found that this isn’t specifically the dynamic_sidebar, but is actually being caused by one specific widget in the dynamic sidebar – namely the Custom Menu widget…

I’m going to attempt to add a 2nd sidebar to the right to see whether it allows the gridview to work while still making the widget available and will update accordingly – however, if anyone comes up with a fix in the meantime, please feel free to advise…

    Cheers

Hey Charlosa. Glad to see you’e been making some progress on this yourself; the best I can suggest at this point is that I’d be happy to give you the current beta code (somewhere between 2.0.3 and 2.1) if you thought it might help get you closer to a resolution. Enough has changed about the code already that it’s definitely possible…

If you’re interested, shoot me an email (rob at tri.be) and I’ll hook you up.

    Hi Rob,

I got round this in the end by changing the Custom Menu widget for a text widget and all is working correctly now…

Not quite sure why the Custom Menu widget was causing the issue, but having found a suitable workaround I didn’t see the point in wasting lots of time trying to fix the actual cause…

Cheers for the offer of the beta code – I may take you up on that down the line, but for the moment I’m happy to plod along with the current release, but I am looking forward to seeing what improvements there are in 2.1…

I’d also like to say thanks for a great add-on to wordpress – as it stands the free version is absolutely perfect for my needs 🙂

Hey Charlosa. Awesome to hear you got this figured out; thanks for the words, too. Happy to help when we can 🙂 If you ever do want to give the current beta shot a go, the offer is forever-standing…feel free to email me if you ever want to take that route.

If you would give this plugin a vote as “Working” on the WordPress.org page, we’d certainly appreciate the vote of confidence. Thanks and let me know what else you need in the future!
