Plugin that will open a lightbox when clicking on an image?

I’m wondering if a plugin exists that will open a lightbox when an image is clicked.

On the website I’m working on, I want to make a grid of images, and when one of those images is clicked a lightbox will pop up with more information about the image.

If anyone knows if this is possible and can help explain how to go about doing this (in simple terms), that would be awesome!
