 * Hello!
 * I’m using WP 3.4 with Subscribe2 V8.3 and the widget V1.1.
    I’m installing the
   service for the first time on a news website … and I’m not a technical pro … :((
 * I set up the plugin and pushed the widget to the site. The “subscribe” button
   appears and I can send an mail address – but after that always appears an error
   message “Error On The Server”!
 * The mail address is sent and shows up in the subscribor’s list, but there is
   no activating mail sent, so the subscription is not complete.
 * I really do hope you can help me fixing that problem! I promise I will donate
   if that plugin will work finally as I hope it can!
 * Thanks in advance!!!

 * Hello, hope I can tag along here rather than starting a new thread.
 * I’ve read the string. I’m also getting the “Sorry, there seems to be an error
   on server. Please try again later” error message on the landing page, when entering
   an address into the form.
 * Site is [http://www.chrisparente.com](http://www.chrisparente.com). You can see
   the token inserted into a post here: [http://chrisparente.com/2012/10/31/what-makes-content-great/](http://chrisparente.com/2012/10/31/what-makes-content-great/)
 * Subscriber2 is set to send emails from me, [chris@chrisparente.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-subscribe2-error-message-error-on-the-server/page/3/chris@chrisparente.com?output_format=md),
   same domain as site. New post delivery to current subscribers is working fine.
 * More nuggets that may be relevant:
 * 1. I do see the new email addresses listed as unconfirmed public subscribers
   in the Subscribers panel. No confirmation email was delivered, however.
 * 2. Related question — it looks like I’m able to confirm these addresses myself.
   Why is that, if a new user is supposed to complete the confirmation?
 * 3. I’m using PHP, not SMTP, to send my WP emails.
 * 4. I’m using a MX record redirect to my host, Bluehost.
 * 5. Also doing A record redirect.
 * Thanks a lot for developing this plugin, I’d love to figure it out.

 * [@cparente](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cparente/),
 * It’s always better to open your own thread so you get specific attention, don’t
   hijack someone else’s thread and also don’t inadvertently confuse 2 different
   issues but…
 * I’ve tested on your site and see what you mean. For some reason the mail() function
   on the server is failing. You could try installing a mail log plugin (Google
   for ‘wordpress mail log’) and then you can keep a record of email send attempts.
 * It’s also worth speaking to your hosting provider to see if they can identify
   the specific reason why the mails are being rejected.

 * Thanks MattyRob. Really appreciate the response.
 * I’m active in many forums, and the etiquette there is not to start a new thread
   if the same issue has been discussed before. Reading Lutz’s initial post, sounded
   like same problem as mine.
 * I’ll contact Bluehost and try to find out what’s up. Thanks for mail log tip —
   sounds like a good thing to have regardless.

 * [@cparente](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cparente/),
 * Different forums have different rules – and they’re never easy to find! No problem
   really but maybe useful for the future.
 * See where you get with Bluehost and if they give you anything specific we can
   investigate further.

 * Update — Well, Bluehost said it was nothing on their end. BUT, when I switched
   to SMTP delivery for WP emails rather than PHP, wham the problem was solved!
 * So I hope that helps someone in future. MattyRob, one final question if you don’t
   mind.
 * I went through the entire user experience, and I’d like to edit the final, Subscription
   Confirmed page. Don’t like the huge comment box presented to new subscriber.
   Can I edit that page, and if so how? Thanks again for your support of this plugin.

 * [@cparente](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cparente/),
 * You should be able to hide the comments box by editing the Page in WordPress
   and disabling comments on that specific page. You would do this by unchecking
   Allow Comments in the Discussion meta box on the authoring page. If that’s not
   visible you need to switch it on in the Screen Options on that same page.

 * MattyRob — question. The confirmation page looks to be dynamically generated.
   There is no page in the WP panel to modify?
 * Do you mean modify the first subscription page, which announces the confirmation
   email, the page associated with Subscribe2?

 * [@cparente](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cparente/),
 * Step 7 in the [installation](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/installation/)
   instructions recommends that you create a WordPress page to handle the dynamic
   output.
 * If you didn’t create that page then you probably should as the plugin is currently
   hijacking one of your existing pages. Once this page is created you can direct
   Subscribe2 to use in in the Appearance area of the Settings page and also turn
   off comments for that page.

 * OK. That’s what I meant by “first” sub page, which I have created. I thought
   there might be two dynamically generated pages. Confused me since the images
   I have on the initial page don’t appear on the final, confirmation page — is
   there a reason for that?
 * I’ve edited the comments out and now the page looks OK. Appreciate your help,
   and thanks for subscribing. <smile>

 * [@cparente](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cparente/),
 * The click through confirmation page over rides all content from the original
   page – the HTML page title, the post title and content.
