  • The HTML mail sent by Subscribe2 always arrives with {Spam?} in the subject. Is this being injected by the recipient mail server?

Is there something about the email itself that is causing this? Even the recipients with the same domain as the site/sender email address are being tagged.

Is there any way to reduce this?

  • @squidz,

The {Spam} addition will certainly be added on the server, possibly your hosting server but maybe the recipients also. If it’s in every single one then it’s more likely to be your sever.

HTML is a good marker for spam as are:
    – certain key words
    – sender address being spoofed
    – header items missing or spoofed
    – Excessively high spam filter settings

You’ll need to check these out on the servers in question, there is nothing that can be done in Subscribe2 to override this otherwise spam filters would quickly become useless when the spammers used the same technique.

@mattyrob – thanks for the input. It does seem that the current state of spam prevention is scuttling the idea of HTML mail unless it’s delivered by the big players such as Constant Contact etc.

Especially if our own server may be tagging it on the way out.

I really like the features of your system. The spam and the excerpt only to the public subscribers are big hurdles from a client perspective. Spam is hard to overcome and they don’t want to open the site up to registration.
