This is so weird I can’t even stand it.

I have this fancy newsletter plugin installed on the network, and I’ve activated it on 3 or 4 subdomains. It works on subdomains where I activated it back on about December 10th. Every site I’ve activated it on since then, no go.

The problem is similar to this:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/admin-submenus-not-appearing-on-hover-but-only-on-dashboard-page-on-my-server

But a) it seems inconsistent and b) I can reproduce the problem on another site running single WP install on another server.

So of course I’ve asked this question over on the plugin’s forum as well.

    More interestingness:
I looked at the HTML via inspector in browser.

In the site where the plugin works, the admin menu li element for e-newsletter is being assigned the class “wp-has-submenu”.

In the site where the plugin DOES NOT work, the li element is not being assigned the class “wp-has-submenu.”

Another thing to note is that when I type in one of the urls I *should* be seeing as submenu items, I get
“Error: You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

This makes no sense! I are teh Super Admin! Logged in as such. Have role for all sites/subdomains set to Administrator!

    Sad face. Can you help?

    Oh… oh.

    Big nevermind. I fixed it.

I needed to do some settings (for outgoing mail server) in the plugin itself for those other menu items to show up.

    Duh.

The plugin in question, incidentally, is e-newsletter from wpmu.org.

Feel free to hit me up, anyone, if you run into this and can’t figure it out.
