Hi, Our Memphis Documents Library stopped working after the last update to Version 3.8.3

I’ve disabled every single plugin running on the site, and tried a different theme, but I can’t get it working again.

There are 2 file types only: pdf and docx. Neither of them work.
We now get: We can’t open xxxx.docx because we found a problem with it’s content. The file is corrupt and cannot be opened.
    AND
    Failed to load PDF document.

Any help you can give me would be very appreciated. We love the using your plugin!
    thank you very much.

I would try rolling back to an older version of mdocs and see if the problem persists.

You can find older version here at the bottom of the page:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/memphis-documents-library/advanced/

Simple download an older version the replace it with the current one and try downloading the file again.

Do I do this via the WordPress Plugin installer or a manual way please?

    (@bhaldie)

you would do the manually using ftp.

I’ve tried for hours to get this to work again, but even an older version won’t work now. I guess I have to give up and use something else

it sounds to me like a server issue not a plugin issue. Have you done any work on your server lately Upgrades, add new services??

You can also check your apache service logs for more details information as to why your files a not processing.

There’s been no Server changes at all. I own the Server this WordPress site is on.
Can you tell me how long I need to wait for the export files feature to stop? I checked off “Check this if you are having difficulty downloading the export file” but it’s been a really long time and I don’t have that many documents?

I asked about your server logs… what are they reporting

oh and fyi export won’t work either if your files are corrupt.

Heres another suggestion check the persmissin of the upload and mdocs uploads folder make sure that your web services can access them.

My Systems Administrators are reporting zero changes to my Server.
My uploads and mdocs directories are 755.

This .htaccess file is inside the mdocs directory:
    Deny from all
    Options +Indexes
    Allow from .google.com

    Is that correct?

I cannot figure this out and am at the point where I have to start all over with a different plugin, which is a lot of work. Can you think of anything else? Why would the files all of sudden become “corrupted”?

    Plugin Author bhaldie

    (@bhaldie)

I doubt they are corrupt, if you manually download them using ftp there are problem fine.

When I try to download or preview a file the download start but then it just freezes at a point.

if you upload a new file is that file accessible?

    (@bhaldie)

I also notice that the connect is being terminated while the download is in process.

You really need to Look at your apache errors logs for more information

I just uploaded a new PDF and it can’t be downloaded either.

I cannot for the life of me, figure out what happened here?

Augh. I don’t know what else to trouble shoot?

I going to ask for the last time Apache Error Logs.

    they might be helpful.

    I’m looking at them now

    (@bhaldie)

While looking around your site I am see my server error below is one of them:

    ImagickException thrown
    PDFDelegateFailed `[ghostscript library 8.70] -q -dQUIET -dSAFER -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dNOPROMPT -dMaxBitmap=500000000 -dAlignToPixels=0 -dGridFitTT=2 “-sDEVICE=pam” -dTextAlphaBits=4 -dGraphicsAlphaBits=4 “-r72x72” -dUseCIEColor -dFirstPage=1 -dLastPage=1 “-sOutputFile=/tmp/magick-25380siaOySwCBQb3%d” “-f/tmp/magick-25380g3O_Xr2RGAh7” “-f/tmp/magick-25380CKVoauyhGpnb”‘: -dname= must be followed by a valid token @ error/pdf.c/InvokePDFDelegate/274

are you 100% sure that nothing has been altered server side.

I’m not finding any recent issues other than a timeout in the Apache error_log.1:59:26 PM

It looks like there may be a missing result for the database when it tries to find that document.1:59:50 PM

When I hover over the link for that doc:
    http://jjmboilerworks.com/document-library/?mdocs-cat=mdocs-cat-2&mdocs-att=null#1:59:57 PM

    “=null” doesn’t seem right?
