  • Hi:

    I’ve used your plugin for a long time and it has always worked fine. Now, all of a sudden, it stopped working. I’m running version 5.3.2 of WordPress because I never upgrade immediately after a new version comes out. Experience has taught me that pioneers catch all the arrows.

    Any idea what could be wrong?

    Thanks for using my plugin! I checked the plugin again, and it’s working fine for me on WP 5.3.2. In order to troubleshoot more, I have a couple of questions:

    Can you tell me if you can see the reviews in the backend of your site (in the Podcast Reviews menu)? If you can see them there in the backend, then it’s probably a conflict with your theme or another plugin.

    Also, can you share the exact URL you have in the text box in the plugin menu? If it’s a problem with this plugin, I would like to test your specific URL to see if it’s a unique case.

    I put out an update to this plugin about 2 months ago. Are you using the current version of this plugin (3.7)?

    If you are on 3.7, did you notice this problem right after upgrading the plugin to version 3.7? Or did you upgrade the plugin a while ago without issue, and just notice the reviews disappearing now? If that’s the case, it might be a conflict with one of your other plugins that you recently upgraded.

    By the way, I agree with not upgrading WordPress core immediately, but only when it’s a major update (just one period in the version number). In this case, I’m staying on 5.3.2 and not upgrading to 5.4 until a couple of weeks go by without an update, or when 5.4.1 comes out. The major updates are feature-based, and do not contain security fixes, so they’re more likely to break something. However, when it’s a minor update (two periods in the version number), it’s usually a security fix, and you should upgrade those right away. For example, when version 5.3.2 came out, I upgraded immediately.

    1. I can’t see the reviews in the plugin control panel either.

    3. Yes, I am running version 3.7.

    4. I don’t know when the reviews disappeared.

    5. I went ahead and upgraded WordPress to version 4.4 and nothing happened (good or bad) as far as this issue is concerned. The reviews still aren’t there.

    By the way, my theme is Catch Responsive Pro and I’m running version: 4.5.3, which is the latest. I also tried deactivating the rest of my plugins and that didn’t help either.

    You’ll need to enter your specific podcast URL in the text box and click the Update button. That’s definitely the problem. You should be able to go to that URL in your web browser and see your podcast information. I assume you must have entered it in there before, otherwise you never would have seen any reviews.

    Maybe you or someone else with admin access to your site deleted part of the URL. I suppose it’s also possible that the last upgrade of my plugin deleted part of the URL, although I’ve tested multiple sites with the last upgrade and that never happened.

    I was able to use the following URL, which I got from looking at your site, and it worked for me. For some reason the artwork and description in the plugin backend menu did not show up correctly, but it is showing reviews on both the backend menu and on the frontend of my test site.

    Please let me know if you’re able to get it working, or if you’re still having trouble.
