This also starting happening on my site leveraging Contact Form 7 in the last day or so. I tested wp_mail() on the server and it functioned as expected. Could it be anything tied to the plugin?
Same issue on clients WooCommerce site….
Just installed for the first time and am seeing the same problem. I came here expecting to learn that I’d done something wrong – but maybe not!
Having same issue, I created a support issue (link below), I believe it’s an issue when Google Recaptcha is integrated within Contact Form 7 Integration Settings.

Maybe it’s an issue with latest version of WordPress? I think that I’ve started to have this problem when I’ve updated the WordPress to latest version, but hard to say….
There was an update of Contact Form 7 but still I cannot send messages, the same problem as above.
I’ve been testing few Contact Form plugins. 3 out of 4 wasn’t sending any emails to anyone. Website is on OVH server. Maybe server is blocking messages from being sent? Is this possible?
I must also mention that I use Contact Form 7 plugin on different website on different hosting and it work excellent. So I started to suppose that there must be a problem with server?
I’ve just found the solution for the problem.
It was needed to install and configure properly WP Mail SMTP plugin. Now Contact Form 7 works again.
